Soulmates, Part One

They met in a chat room on the Internet. Just teenagers, they hit it off immediately. Despite the long distance (he lived in San Francisco and she in Detroit), they managed to talk in the phone and warm letters flowed freely between them. "We were kids, and had no hope of meeting," he said, "but I was falling in love with her."

"I couldn't get Joy out of my mind," Jon remembered. "I compared every girl with how Joy would be when I met her. Finally, I just put down and bought a ticket to Detroit. I got off the plane, saw her, and I knew: "This is who I'm going to marry--this is who I want to be the mother of my children." "I was overwhelmed," said Joy. "Here was this guy telling me he wants me to be the mother of his children. But I wasn't afraid. That told me it was going to work out."

You've heard stories like this: couples who come together as if by magic, who seem to belong with each other as surely as two matching pieces of a puzzle. Lovers, life mates, partners: the words are just not enough to describe this kind of bond. The only term that comes close is Soulmate. But what exactly is a soulmate? And how can you find yours?

Many psychics and astrologers agree that there are several kinds of soulmates. Twin flames, or split aparts, are considered the ultimate soulmates. Supposedly two halves of the same spirit, split apart at the beginning of time, they learn and grow separately through many lifetimes. At certain times throughout eternity, they come together to experience a lifetime together. Some intuitives believe you only meet your twin flame again when you are evolved enough to recognize him or her. But there can also be a big catch: your twin flame could reincarnate as your mother, your sister, or a close friend. There are no guarantees that he or she will come equipped with the "right body" to be your true love this lifetime. So if you plan on waiting for your "other half," you could be waiting a long time.

Your Soul Group: Intimates Through Time Fortunately, there are other kinds of soulmate as well. Often, a soulmate can be someone who was part of your soul group--the initial group of beings that came to Planet Earth with you. This person may not be your "other half", but you will have a strong affinity and attraction for him or her. You have known members of your soul group for thousands of years. These are the people with whom you share intimate relationships, lifetime after lifetime. You teach and grow with one another over thousands of years.
