Exercises to ease varicose veins


Knee bends with ankle flexon

This is actually two exercises in one, joined together to work the entire leg. Lie again on the floor on your back. Slowly pull one knee into your chest, holding onto your leg BEHIND your knee (holding on top of the kneecap puts undue pressure on this delicate joint). While your leg is in this position, point and flex your foot several times. Do this slowly and forcefully - don't just flap your foot around, but rather really work the muscles of the calves and the tendons around your ankle. Repeat with the opposite leg.

Serious varicose veins are truly a medical problem, and treatment should be that prescribed by your physician. However, for those of us who suffer from the pain of mild varicose veins, these exercises can help relieve the soreness, and improve the appearance of our legs.
