Tips for Growing Bulbs

  • The better the bulb, the better the bloom. Purchase large, firm bulbs that are fleshy and plump. Avoid bulbs that are skinny, crunchy, mushy, and moldy.
  • Bulbs originate where the winters are cold. If you live in a climate that has mild winters, you will need to refrigerate the bulbs for 6 to 14 weeks to trick them into thinking they've had the winter season that they need to bloom.
  • After bulbs bloom, don't remove foliage until it yellows and dries.
