RAW Report 7/30/01

1) A) TAZZ, PAUL HEYMAN and TOMMY DREAMER come to the ring and get rid of MICHAEL COLE, giving Heyman his spot at the announce table. Why didn't they do that two weeks ago? Tazz says that the Alliance will have a great night tonight, cause BOOKER T's going to regain the WCW Title from KURT ANGLE in a no-holds-barred match, THE DUDLEY BOYS are going to beat THE UNDERTAKER and KANE in a table match, and THE ROCK will join the Alliance. JIM ROSS says he's not so sure about that, and...

b) CHRIS JERICHO interrupts- "I'm sure you're absolutely excited that you finally get to hear the voice of the Alliance, but I'm sick and tired of hearing the voice of you. So Tazz, would you puhleeze... shut the hell up!" Jericho thinks that Tazz may be the star of MTV's "Tough Enough," but he really belongs on MTV's "Jackass." "And speaking of jackass, I'm about to kick yours, Junior!" And so...

c) CHRIS JERICHO d. TAZZ. Jericho rushes the ring, clothesline by Tazz, whip to the buckle, and Tazzmission applied immediately, but Jericho breaks it. Facebuster and a Lionsault, and this one's over.

2) Backstage VINCE MCMAHON paces around and COMMISSIONER REGAL and TAJIRI drop by to celebrate the return of THE ROCK. Vince shows off his "Welcome home Rock!" decoration. "You don't think I overdid it, do you?" Vince is also happy cause Tajiri's got a Hardcore Title shot tonight. Tajiri's got a bunch of pies for the Rock! Cherry, apricot, custard, apple, blueberry, you name it. Vince says "The Rock likes a different kind of pie, besides, it seems as though, this pie is missing a slice, Commissioner." I guess Tajiri ate a little pie and gets called "a thieving little git... go win the Hardcore Title, bugger off!" We cut to commercial.

3) ROB VAN DAM d. TAJIRI for the Hardcore Title. Great crowd reactions for both of these ECW guys. Big "ECW" chant as Tajiri starts with a side headlock, shove off the ropes, handspring by Tajiri, clothesline misses but the armdrag doesn't. Dueling martial arts kicks get some cheers from the crowd, RVD gives himself thumbs up and gets a superkick from his opponent. A kick from Van Dam nails Tajiri, and a huge springboard legdrop scares me and hurts the challenger. RVD rolls back in but Tajiri nails him with a flipping chairshot! Back in the ring, Tajiri with a whip to the ropes, gets a kick, RVD to the top but gets crotched and falls upside down in the corner. Tajiri sets up two chairs in front of his face, gets a running start and baseball slides into RVD's face! Rolls him over for only a two count. Big chop against the ropes, whip to the ropes reversed, waistlock into a German suplex for two. Suplex blocked by Van Dam, clothesline from Van Dam blocked and Tajiri locks on a submission move of some sort. Van Dam gets out, Tajiri with the whip reversed, crucifix by Tajiri missed, Van Dam with a moonsault and he gets a two count. Van Dam drops a chair on Tajirti's belly, and a Five Star Frog Splash knocks both guys down, but RVD rolls over for the pin anyway. Weird ending, awesome match.
