1) VINCE MCMAHON comes to the ring first tonight- no promos, no teasers, no nothing. He's glad that STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN is still champion, despite interference by BOOKER T at King of the Ring. Vince asks what the T stands for- maybe "terrible"? Maybe "trash"? Maybe "trogolodyte"- no, the fans ain't understanding. No, "Temporarily Employed," he decides. Vince says it's his intention again to put WCW out of business. He says the WWF helped build the legendary Garden, and that no WCW star will ever... EEEEEEEVER... (sorry), set foot in the building again. Vince recaps the history of the Garden with a video tribute to his dad, featuring CLASSY FREDDIE BLASSIE (nice crowd pop), GORILLA MONSOON (even bigger pop) and ANDRE THE GIANT (great pop). He promises "many more memorable moments" in the Garden and we start the regular RAW intro. Interesting start.
2) RHYNO d. TEST for the Hardcore Title. Yeah, this'll spike the ratings. Nice pop for Rhyno, though. Rhyno gores Test in the corner but since PAUL HEYMAN didn't yell GORE! GORE! GORE! It doesn't count. He immediately goes to the floor and grabs a garbage can, which Test whacks into Rhyno's head. Rhyno gets rolled back in, he grabs the can, tosses it to Test, the Gore misses and we have a near fall. Back to the floor, they brawl into the crowd and Rhyno's wailing on the champ. Rhyno tries a suplex onto a steel barricade but Test reverses it. They head to the back and the camera bumps into the curtain. D'oh! Okay, we're back and Test slams Rhyno into a cart. Rhyno with a chop, he clears off a table and Test comes back with some punches. Test climbs to the top of the cart, no, he jabs Rhyno in the gut with a fire extinguisher. Rhyno's lying on a table, Test climbs up and drops the elbow through a table! Two count only for Test. We're back up, Rhyno gets dumped into a rolling janitorial cart and slammed into the wall. Ouch. Test grabs a ladder and whacks the challenger with it. Test tries a piledriver but gets backdropped. A mini-gore into a steel wall and Rhyno gets the pin. But Heyman didn't say GORE! GORE! GORE! Maybe they forgot to tell Test.
3) MIKE AWESOME d. RHYNO for the Hardcore Title. From out of nowhere, a buzz-cutted Awesome whacks Rhyno with a pole and orders the ref to count the pin. I had a feeling that'd happen, but it makes sense. We cut to commercial with JIM ROSS and PAUL HEYMAN totally discombobulated.
