Raw Report 3/5/01

RAW is live from the MCI Center in Washington D.C.

1) JR introduces our new commentator, ECW'S PAUL HEYMAN, who gives kudos to JERRY LAWLER for standing up for his wife.

2) a) TRIPLE H and STEPHANIE MCMAHON-HELMSLEY are in the house! JR reminds us that H beat STONE COLD at No Way Out, and beat him twice in a row to boot. "You know, it's hard to be humble when you're as good as I am... and I don't think these people can appreciate just how difficult it is... to not walk out here to this ring, to just toot your own horn for ten minutes straight... it's difficult." Difficult but not impossible, cause that's what he does. H is loving the fact that he beat Austin, though the crowd seems to have the opposite opinion. Oh, he also doesn't like THE ROCK- you see, Rock said that he and Austin were the two biggest names in the business, and H feels left out. "He needs to realize- I am the guy who's been kicking the Rock's a&& since the day he got here." Then he reminds us that he beat Austin twice. These two thoughts do not win Triple H many friends in D.C., but H says he's going to take matters into his own hands and get into the main event at Wrestlemania. He calls Austin out, and...

b) STONE COLD hits the ring. Big brawl here, with Austin getting the better of it, but KURT ANGLE makes it a two-on-one. THE ROCK makes the save and gets a HUGE pop, way bigger than Austin's. We cut to commercial.

3) KURT ANGLE is still pacing around the ring, and WILLIAM REGAL tries to calm him down by booking Angle and TRIPLE H against STONE COLD and THE ROCK. It doesn't work, cause Kurt's still upset.

4) X-PAC/JUSTIN CREDIBLE v. TOO COOL. KURT ANGLE beats up both Too Coolers before their opponents even show up, putting SCOTTY 2 HOTTY into the Anklelock. That brings out THE EMT's to tend to the ankle and we cut to commercial. No match I guess? At least we don't have to see X-Pac though.

5) Backstage THE RADICALS argue over who should get a title shot against CHRIS JERICHO tonight. BENOIT says it should be GUERRERO, Guerrero says it should be Benoit. Benoit wins and so it's Guerrero, I think.

6) CHRIS BENOIT's theme music plays! Did they forget to play the whole segment or something? No, he's just joining us for commentary.
