RAW report 1/8/01

Problems with the brevity of this report? Thank MY CAR which decided to not start on the way home from work, causing me to piece together most of the report from friends and well-wishers. I did get to see TEST v. ALBERT though, for whatever that's worth.

1) a) VINCE MCMAHON books two matches: a handicap match with KANE and RIKISHI against THE ROCK and TWO REFEREES OF STEPHANIE MCMAHON-HELMSLEY's choice, and KURT ANGLE vs. STEVE COLD STEVE AUSTIN for the WWF title.

b) STONE COLD comes out to call Vince a jackass.

c) KURT ANGLE calls Austin a redneck and hits him with the WWF title.

2) CHRIS JERICHO/HARDY BOYS d. THE RADICALS when Jericho pinned CHRIS BENOIT. After the match DEAN MALENKO dumps a tray of drinks onto LITA.

3) Backstage STEPHANIE picks referees TEDDY LONG and JACK DOAN as ROCK's tag team partners.

4) Backstage DEAN MALENKO tries to hop in the shower with LITA.

5) Backstage KEVIN KELLY interviews THE ROCK. Rock says he's going to win the Royal Rumble and go to Wrestlemania, no matter what. And he's going to win tonight too.

6) Backstage LITA discovers MALENKO's evil plan and THE HARDY BOYS beat him up.

7) Somewhere else, MICHAEL COLE interviews CHYNA. She's trying to get back in the ring without surgery. Don't worry, Chyna fans, TRIPLE H will get well soon and thus Chyna will too.

8) BILLY GUNN d. VAL VENIS in a lumberjack match. I did see most of this, and it was OK. Before the match Billy says he's going to beat up Val pretty bad, and he does. Val tries to run away a couple times but THE ACOLYTES, the most enthusiastic lumberjacks of them all, beat him up and dump him back in the ring. Billy almost gets hold of IVORY again but she slips away.

9) Backstage EDGE and CHRISTIAN wish KURT ANGLE good luck in his title match.

10) Backstage KANE walks past TEDDY LONG and JACK DOAN, who basically beg him to not beat them up. He shoves Teddy anyway and walks off.

11) ROCK/JACK DOAN/TEDDY LONG d. RIKISHI/KANE by DQ. Refs are totally hilarious as cowardly faces, though Rock does most of the work for his team. DQ comes when Kane brings a chair in. He chokeslams Doan while Rikishi splashes Long in the corner. They did a good job getting beat up. UNDERTAKER makes the save for Rock and refs.
