RAW is WAR report 8/28/00
RAW is WAR report, live from Greensboro, North Carolina.
1) Backstage COMMISSIONER MICK FOLEY sits near a lava lamp and recaps the card. I'd recap the card, but- wait, that's what I'm about to do!
2) Backstage TRIPLE H is sulking and waiting to find out where STEPHANIE has been since SummerSlam.
3) CHRIS JERICHO/ACOLYTES d. CHRIS BENOIT/T&A. JIM ROSS and JERRY LAWLER remind us that the Jericho/Benoit feud isn't over, which means more really cool matches. Unfortunately this isn't one of them, as the tag teams really detract from the whole Chris vs. Chris thing and kill the crowd heat. Jericho jumps Benoit as the Crippler walks down the aisle, which by itself would have been a better way to start the show. Farooq gets a tag and throws TEST around like crazy. If you want to get the Acolytes over, just have 'em do some of their super-stiff moves and JR will freak out. T&A take control on BRADSHAW with some double-team moves, but Jericho gets the pin after a cool spot: Albert was set to press-slam Jericho, but Bradshaw nailed him with a big boot and Jericho went for the Lionsault. Not too exciting, but a good way to start a show starting at 11 PM. Jericho was bleeding from the mouth at the end.
4) Backstage TRIPLE H is still pacing. He opens up to X-PAC about his marital woes and swears he'll tear KURT ANGLE apart X-Pac makes a stupid joke. Why is he on this show? HHH is still upset.
5) We return from break to find TRIPLE H is STILL talking, but this time to ROAD DOGG, who says that sulking isn't gonna help. Immediately KURT ANGLE's theme music plays and HHH is on the move toward the ring.
6) A) KURT ANGLE makes his way to the ring despite suffering a concussion last night at SummerSlam! Great heel crowd heat for the Olympic Hero. He recaps all the events of the main event match last night. He calls TRIPLE H "a shady character in my book" and says that what HHH did to STEPHANIE was "borderline criminal."
B) A super-cranky TRIPLE H heads to the ring to answer Angle's charges. HHH is getting big cheers here; hats off to the WWF writers who know how to book a turn like nobody's business. HHH says: "Kurt... you didn't get a concussion... I GAVE YOUR *** A CONCUSSION!" The only thing on HHH's mind is where STEPHANIE is; if Kurt doesn't tell, "what I do to you in this ring will most DEFINITELY be criminal!" Kurt thinks this means kidnapping for some reason, but he certainly doesn't know where Stephanie was last night. He thinks maybe Stephanie's deliberately avoiding HHH because she's scared of him and doesn't trust him. "Maybe she sees you... as the bastard you really are!" And that of course sends HHH into a rage. He shoves Angle through the ropes to the floor, shoves some referees and takes his shirt off all within a handful of seconds.
