RAW report 8/7/00

Welcome back, wrestling fans...

1) a) Wow, someone's coming to the ring to start the show, and it's not X-Pac! I must have been a really good boy last week. It's THE ROCK making his way to the People's Ring. He grabs the mic and challenges Benoit to a title match tonight. b) This brings out CHRIS BENOIT and SHANE MCMAHON. The Crippler accepts the challenge, but not before whining about their match at Fully Loaded. Shane hosts a video recap of himself whacking Rock with a chair on Smackdown and Benoit pinning Rock. Since Rock just said all this, why didn't Shane and Benoit come out first? Shane makes the match no-DQ and much tension is shared between the principals of the match.

2) Backstage, KURT ANGLE talks to COMMISSIONER MICK FOLEY, who's at the helm of a golf cart-like vehicle. Kurt makes his case for being #1 contender. Mick takes the request under advisement and honks his cart horn twice for good measure.

3) As we come back from commercial, STEPHANIE MCMAHON-HELMSLEY is waiting backstage as TRIPLE H's limo shows up. Stephanie wants to talk, but HHH needs to meet with Commissioner Foley first.

4) RIKISHI PHATU d. X-PAC by DQ. Last week Rikishi squashed Tazz. X-Pac didn't get half the pop X-Pac just got, but something tells me that D-X will be celebrating after this match. Yuck. X-Pac hits a Bronco Buster very quickly, but Rikishi recovers and hits a splash and a stinkyface. ROAD DOGG, watching backstage, starts laughing at his partner. Rikishi sets up for the Banzai Drop, but then the Road Dogg attacks from behind. What, Tazz can get pinned but X-Pac, a TAG WRESTLER, can't? Ross plugs D-X despite the fact that absolutely no one cares anymore.

5) Backstage, TRIPLE H finds MICK FOLEY and demands that he gets to be #1 contender. Foley notes that Kurt Angle wants the same thing: "Geez, first he takes your wife, then he wants your spot." Foley says he'll look into it.

6) We return to the show with another episode of the "Save the Ho's" campaign.

7) STEPHANIE wants to talk to TRIPLE H, but he's in no mood. He says that if he can find KURT ANGLE he'll beat him up.

8) THE RIGHT TO CENSOR shows up, and STEVEN RICHARDS pats himself on the back. THE DUDLEY BOYS rain on their parade, and have a microphone. BUH BUH RAY notes that New Yorkers like to see the Duds put weirdos like the RTC through tables. We get another "Save the Ho's" chant. Pretty formulaic tag match, though D-Von hits his... uh, headbutt on both BULL BUCHANAN and THE GOODFATHER. 3-D on Buchanan, but Richards interferes and D-Von gives him a flying headbutt. Crowd is absolutely berserk when the Duds go for tables. Goodfather knocks Buh Buh out with a club. Richards grabs one of the protesting ho's, and the Goodfather powerbombs her through the table. Ross calls for help for the fallen ho, and Lawler offers to help.
