Not having participated in this seminar I don't know what techniques were advocated, but from reading the above articles I gather you have to have a certain kind of personality to practice what they preach. Here is how Jason Oman pushed his book CONVERSATIONS WITH MILLIONAIRES to the top of Amazon's bestseller list. "We did it by leveraging the email lists of other people by first serving them and coming from a place of willingness to help them. By doing so, when we asked 12 of them for their help, they gladly sent a notice to their email lists with an offer for (his book) on amazon.com . . . We made an irresistible offer of digital products as bonuses for anyone who purchased the book from amazon.com by midnight that night." Oman calls his technique Loverage- using the powers of love and leverage to help others help you.
According to Joe Vitale, Terri Levine made her book WORK YOURSELF HAPPY an official amazon.com bestseller when she sold 600 books in less than 12 hours. She did this by creating a compelling reason to buy her book- she offered e-books, e-transcripts and other freebies of hers that would be of no personal cost, and were deliverable by email.
Kim Dushinski and Tami DePalma share their insights on making the New York Times bestseller list. First, they say, Get onto a local bestseller list. To do this find out what stores are used to compile the local bestseller list, then get your books into those bookstores. After that, create an event or activity that will drive a large number of sales in those stores. The reasoning here is that if you sell books to a large crowd in one sitting, it can blip you onto the local best seller list. Second, become an Amazon bestseller. Industry professionals pay attention to what happens at Amazon and that will bring you international notice. Here is their formula for creating an Amazon bestseller. 1) Get your book listed completely on Amazon. 2) Offer bonuses that your customers will receive by buying on Amazon on a predetermined day. 3) Drive as many people as possible to Amazon to buy your book.
