Names are often part of the publishing game. Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Anne Rice, Nora Roberts: all of them have had pseudonyms and for different reasons. Who knows? Sometimes writers take names that have better placement on bookstore shelves. If your last name begins with A, you're typically way at the top of a shelf, above eye level. Zs are about even with your feet. So it would seem that names that fall at eye level on the shelf might be preferable, right?
