Big Sexy's A Big Bomb

In my eyes, bringing in the nWo has done more harm than good for the WWE. Scott Hall was a huge disappointment in the ring and character wise, but he's gone now. Hulk Hogan has pulled his share, but is no longer part of the nWo – heck, he ain't even on the same show.

But I think the biggest blow to Titan Sports has been Kevin Nash. Following Hall's firing and Hogan's departing from the group, it was up to Nash to lead the nWo back to their former glory. Bringing in X-Pac made it feel more like a heel faction (everyone needs a member to slap around), and Big Show, well, he brought the number back to three.

Shawn Michael's big return boosted ratings a bit and was a huge surprise to everyone involved. It seemed at that point the nWo was ready to drop Show and start kicking ass . . . once Nash's bicep healed.

But after July 8's Raw, that isn't going to happen. Nash tore his quadricep in his first match after being medically cleared to wrestle. This injury is similar to Triple H's – the one that kept him out nine months. What's the nWo to do?

You see, the nWo was originally Nash, Hall and Hogan from back in the days of Ted Turner's WCW. Without Hall and Hogan, Nash is absolutely necessary to make the group really the nWo. God only knows, however, when he's going to come back.

I can't really blame Nash for destroying Raw's best heel faction. It's not like he purposely injured his bicep and quad. He didn't want to only work a dozen or so matches in the last four months. But it happened. The WWE is stuck with this group – Michaels, X-Pac and Big Show – that they call the nWo, but is hardly that. Nash's presence, despite the lack of Hall and Hogan, made it worth the draw to call the faction New World Order. Without him, though, it really isn't. The name has draw but only one of the character has any now. Had Nash stayed out like Kane did with his bicep injury, the faction could have renamed itself to something new have a life of its own. Currently it's living through Nash and Hall's legacy, but not meeting their mid-90s standard.

All the nWo junk aside, the WWE fought hard and paid up to bring in a man whose been sitting on the sidelines most of his recent tenure. Again, I can't make this sound like Nash is deliberately hurting the WWE. If he could wrestle, I'm sure he would. If he could even travel, I'm sure he'd show up on TV. None of that, however, undoes the damage he's caused.
