SummerSlack (belated)Here's a run down of "Summerslam" events: Edge versus Lanth Thtorm for the Intercontinental belt was a killer bout between two amazing athletes with promising futures, especially for Edge as IC champ. Though it seems a break up is in the works for Edge and Christian, it would be great to see Storm team up with former ECW tag-team partner and reform the Impact Players for a rivalry with E&C, no matter how short lived it is. I just couldn't get into the Six-man brawl of Test and the Dudleys versus the APA and Spike. There wasn't enough feuding going on, and it didn't push the two men who I wanted to see push the most – Test and Spike. They ought to go their separate ways and go for federation titles. It was a useless victory for the Alliance. Though Chris Jericho may not have been at his prime last night (Did anyone catch how many times he slipped from the ropes?), his match against Rhyno was far from boring. I think it was a battle better suited for TV, however. At least it ended with Jericho on top. Actually, as I'm sure most of you read on other sites, Jericho was not suffering from a concussion or weak ankles, the ropes were simply too loose. I had no doubt that Jeff Hardy versus Rob Van Dam was going to be a solid, stellar match, but I think something went wrong in this match too. First, RVD missed what looked like a central move while Jeff was hanging from the belt. Then it seemed like Van Dam was getting some kind of scolding by the referee after the match. Our guess while it happened was that Jeff was supposed to win it, but he took so long climbing to his feet after falling from the ladder that RVD knew that it would have looked to contrived, so he did what any good showman would do and improvised. Though there has been no mention of anything of the sort at any of the major sites. No matter who left with the belt, the real winner was the audience. What the hell was the point of taking that belt from Tajiri? X-Suck doesn't need it; he'll get his undeserving push anyway because he's Triple H's drinking buddy. The Buzzsaw is both more deserving and needing of gold (and double gold would be a great bonus). At least X-Pac won the way he always wins, by cheating, thus retaining Tajiri's credibility (stay tuned for another article on Tajiri shortly).
