Feast or Famine

I don’t want to give the impression that I’m not jumping with joy over the rival of ECW.

Yet I have to raise my concern over Titan’s ability to spread thin all that wrestling talent.

Think about it: It’s one thing when three federations (WWF, WCW, and ECW) are competing with each other for semi-weekly ratings. It’s another when they are all working together. The fact that this is now friendly warfare means that none of the federations are going to swamp the other. The result of which is no federation pushing their talent to the limit, no federation going to the extreme, crossing lines, or breaking rules in order to one-up the others.

It’s like price-fixing, only with talent instead of prices (which could be next). They have all agreed to keep their pull-power at certain level in order to attract just enough ratings to keep afloat. I'm not saying that they are deliberately gipping us of good programming, but let's face it, are they going to put the Heavy Weight Champion's body on the line if they don't have to get the ratings up?

Sounds pretty bad, right? And who is really going to watch over 12 hours of wrestling every week? In fact, there won’t be over 12 hours. From what I heard, there will be one show per federation per week.

FIRST DISGRUNTLED FAN: You mean I have to wait an entire week to find out if Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince Mc Mahon will ever hug again . . .

SECOND DISGRUNTLED FAN: Or to see if Booker T will accept a challenge by Big Papa Pump for a cage match at the pay-per-view . . .

THIRD DISGRUNTLED FAN: Or to see which of the thirty matches I saw live at that ECW show will end up on TV?

Yes. Well, like I said, it’s a rumor.

They really only have two options: overstuff us (like the ravioli), or underfeed us.

It’s not like I couldn’t just claim that people will watch 12 hours of wrestling weekly because – let’s face it – a lot of people did when they were competing. But that’s because THEY WERE COMPETING! And, in addition, they all had different owners with differently trained staff writers and thus (for the most part) rather different stories and plots and characters and what not.

But under Titan’s rule, everyone will be trained at the same schools, scouted by the same men, and the writers will all have WWF on the brain.
