Christmas Greetings!
I have decided that in the spirit of Christmas and giving and such, that instead of an article on magic, I would GIVE you some magic! Here's a great little card trick, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! HIGH CARD DEAL (By: Rick Mallars) Effect: Performer takes out a deck of fifty two cards and proceeds to remove all of the high cards from the deck (Ace -10 of all suits). Performer explains that he is going to do a little something with these twenty cards and the mystery of shadows. The performer then proceeds to line the cards into four rows, each row containing five cards in the order of Ace - 10 with the ace at the top most of each pile. Taking the rows of cards into his hands one at a time, the performer stacks the cards together and asks the spectator to cut the deck once then complete the cut by placing them on top of each other. The spectator is then asked if he or she would like to cut them again. After the deck has been cut once or twice, the performer then proceeds to deal the twenty shuffled cards into rows of five each row containing four cards at the end all face down. The performer then asks the spectator to “cast a shadow” over the cards with the wave of a hand. The spectator casts the shadow then the performer proceeds to turn all of the piles face up so that everyone can see what has happened. The spectators gasp when they see that all of the cards have been put together in their proper order with all the Aces together in one pile, all of the Kings are found together in one pile and so on and so forth with the rest of the cards! Explanation: It is not necessary to carry around an entire deck of cards for this trick, you simply need the Ace - 10 of every suit to complete this mystery. Although, it is handy to have an entire deck with you from which to extract these cards because you may be asked to perform another card trick directly afterward! Extract these twenty cards, Ace - 10 and proceed to place them out in front of you face up in this order:
