just right to produce very strange effects in certain places. There’s also the issue of breaking the speed of light. Many modern theories don’t think this is possible. Once again, you can do this in your fiction; you just have to give a plausible explanation for how your society managed it. This is an important thing to remember when writing science fiction. You have to try to make it sound like what you’re suggesting is possible somehow. No, you don’t have to be a PhD in astrophysics. It does help though to read a bit up on the subject you’re dealing with and see what’s possible out there today, what’s projected for tomorrow, and what the scientific communities think may be coming in the far future--on the plus side, doing all of that reading might give you more story ideas.

Our World
