We all look forward to vacation time and to me it's important to remove yourself from the workplace for a while. I'm just finishing up a two-week vacation and I wanted to share with you what I did. I know this will be as boring as looking at other people's vacation pictures!
Let me share some of my activities. My youngest son was just finishing his last week of school. During this week, it's only a matter of biding one's time. I became a school mom for part of the time. They had a class party at a teacher's house so I volunteered to drive some of the students and attend the party. I've known the teachers for over 3 years so I've got to know them very well. This was the last year my son will be with them so it was my opportunity to spend time with them outside of the classroom. On the last day of school, they were having an assembly to say farewell to the Grade 5 graduates. I had lunch with the class and then attended the ceremonies. With working full-time, I've never had the opportunity to participate with the class. I found it very enjoyable and my son was proud to show me off. I had great plans to do my spring cleaning (a little late), but I didn't finish. I felt it was more important to do some projects that have been staring at me in the face for a long time. My walk-in closet has been a disaster area for a while and I finally reorganized it. I visited the local dollar store and bought small clear plastic containers. I wanted clear ones so I can see what's inside and wanted small ones so they could be stacked on shelves. I had stuff stored in cardboard boxes and didn't have a clue what was inside! This was my opportunity to toss out insignificant junk and regroup the belongings I needed to keep. I'm a packrat so this took a very long time! I also threw out some old shoes that were worn or out of style. Now I have a tidy, organized and less-full closet.
