Making the Most of Your Lunch BreaksI sometimes get my hair cut on my lunch hour. All I do is tell the stylist I have to go back to work and he/she makes sure my hair is blown dry. There has been the odd time a stylist has used a loose cape and the little hairs have fallen into my clothing and the itch can be irritating. I do other things like getting a new battery for my watch, having new heels put on my shoes while I wait, taking film for developing, doing my banking, buying stamps, mailing parcels, selecting eyeglasses, taking blood tests, going to the library, and taking a picnic lunch to the local park in the nice weather. I must admit I've done a few unusual things like selecting my engagement ring with my fiance, applying for our marriage licence and eventually signing my divorce papers. I take a brown bag lunch almost every day so I can eat in my office and have the time to do my running around. I make sure I have no errands on Friday so I can join my co-workers for our customary lunch at a local restaurant. You must take some time out for socialization. If you are fortunate to have the same type of amenities in close proximity to your workplace, perhaps you may consider maximizing your lunch break too. I find that I have more energy during the day and I am more apt to take care of things I've been putting off. By the way, have a pair of walking shoes or runners to keep at work. Changing into a comfortable pair of shoes can make you feel better and help you pound the pavement at record-breaking speeds! When the weather is nice, you may even consider taking a walk on the days you don't have errands, rather than sitting around. I bring my personal CD or cassette player and plug in the headphones. It does give you a bit of a break from the daily grind. I hope I have given you some ideas of what can be accomplished in a short period of time. The problem is, you may just wander all afternoon and forget about going back to work!
