Mothers As Breadwinner

toddler and older, was not on a drop-in basis. At least baseball was somewhat more considerate to working mothers. I remember I enrolled my kids in a baseball league one year. I got off work at 5:00, arrived at the daycare at 5:45, and home a few minutes later. I made the kids wolf down a quick meal before they got on their uniforms and out the door by 6:15 at the latest. If the game was further away, I'd have to leave at 6:00. The games were twice a week with practice on Saturday. This was certainly doable but with a lot of stress. I forgot to mention that my youngest child was just over a year old and was not a quick eater. A kind neighbour finally offered to take my 2 oldest boys to the games (still had to have a quick supper) and allowed me to get my youngest one fed and changed. I then caught up with the rest of them at the game. The daycare would only allow a parent to pick up the kids so we still had to rush around. Nevertheless, the neighbour's deeds certainly helped me out. In order to pull this one off, I had to prepare my meals in advance. Thank goodness for microwaves! Many times I would make a big supper the night before and nuke the leftovers on baseball night. In my course Working Mothers - Life Can Be Easier!, I have a lot of suggestions on quick meals and advance preparation. Be sure to check it out!
