Think Business When Writing Your Holiday Wish-List

Stumped about what to put on your holiday wish list? If you work at home, consider asking for a few of these entrepreneurial must-haves:

  • A planning calendar. Not one of those tiny pocket planners you can buy for $2.95 at the card shop, but a fat calendar with lots of space for marking appointments, deadlines and other items on your business to-do list. While you're at it, you might want to ask for more than one so your spouse and kids can keep tabs of their time as well. It helps to have everyone planning ahead when you juggle work and family responsibilities.

  • A digital camera. The prices on these babies keep on dropping, and they can make great gifts for lots of small-business owners. If you need to regularly take photos for marketing brochures, Web site materials or ads, a digital camera can be a tremendous time-saver: no more worries about buying film, dropping off film for developing, picking up photos, scanning the good ones, etc.

  • Extra memory. No, not for you -- for your computer. You know that no matter how much memory your computer arrives with it never seems to be enough. If you don't feel like installing additional memory, you can also ask for a high-density drive and some disks: they're great for archiving old files and backing up existing ones (you DO back up your files, don't you?).
