And wouldn't you know it? The very next site that I hit was a gold mine. And the next, and the one after that . . . . It still amazes me how much a different perspective, no matter how fleeting, can really turn a frustrating situation around.

Here are the sites that I found:

Search Engines

America's Employers - A search for "work and home" yielded over 100 matches - all professional or technical. A search for "home based" was even better, and all of the jobs that caught my eye were home based or telecommuting positions, although for most you needed to live near the location of the business in order to travel to customer sites, or attend meetings, or the like.

Job Bank - Canada - Search by province or Canada wide opportunities. No telecommuting jobs were listed on April 3, but I found 19 opportunities when I searched "work at home," of which most were telemarketing positions in Ontario.

Monster Board - Search Internationally or locally. No hits for "work at home," but around 15 for "telecommute." Most were located in the US, and all were of a highly technical nature.

Search JobLink's database - For writers. A wonderful searchable database, where you can even select "entry level" positions exclusively. Two hundred and fourteen jobs were listed when I visited on April 3, with many offering the opportunity to telecommute.

Yahoo! - This is the search page of nationwide classifieds. Enter "work at home," or "telecommute" for decent search results. But be warned, you will have to spend a great deal of time here scrolling . . . and many of the "hits" are exactly the same, just in a different location (i.e., one opportunity, with 35 separate listings in 35 different communities).

Telecommuting Options

Telecommute Programming Jobs - When I saw all of the possible options available to choose from (a select list follows) I thought that I had struck gold! Unfortunately, the system was undergoing maintenance when I visited, and will not reopen until Monday, April 6. Just some of the options were:

    Must have health insurance
    Must have flexible work hours
    Show FULL telecommute jobs only
Will hire on a part-time basis
    Will hire entry level applicants

Technical and Professional Options

Avalanche of Jobs for Writers - Yes, there are many jobs here for writers. Check out the jobs in areas near you for best results. And don't miss out on the online jobs either.

Virtual Staff - Looking for computer and business experts to assist clients over the Internet.
