Finding work to do at home while surfing the Internet would seem to be an easy task. With the explosion of the Internet into our homes, schools and communities in the past couple of years, it would just make sense that there are a lot of jobs that need to be done to keep everything running smoothly. All of the following, you would think, would be factors encouraging to individuals looking for home based employment:
After countless hours of searching the Web, newspapers, magazines, and other sources this past week, I have little to show for my effort. Most of what I found was the same thing, just presented differently. And I refused to admit to myself that if I wanted a listing of companies looking for home based employees, I was going to have to either contact them one by one myself, or pay for someone else to do the work. Neither of which sounded very feasible, or practical to me. So, I decided to take a break, and just walk away from it all for a while. As I looked up from the computer, I saw my daughter crawl across the living room floor, smiling at me. Wait a minute . . . crawling!?! I did a double take, and looked again. Yes, she was crawling towards me, and yes, she was smiling. And with tears in my eyes, and a smile on my face as well, I went over to hug her, and savor the moment. A couple of hours later, I sat back down in front of my computer to finish this article, and remembered what I had witnessed earlier. Nothing could replace the fact that I had just witnessed my daughter's first "crawl," while working. Nowhere else could I have experienced such a momentous moment while at work, and be able to stop everything to enjoy it. And for just a few seconds, everything was absolutely perfect in my world - I could ignore the housecleaning that desperately needed to be done, I could blank out the fact that I really needed a shower, I could forget about the phone ringing in the background. My chest swelled, my eyes glistened, and my heart pounded. I was exactly where I wanted to be. With renewed enthusiasm, I searched once more.
