What a week! My husband and I have had a doozy, and I really feel the need to take some time for myself to recharge. Just some of the challenges that we have faced this week include a bad case of insomnia that has continued to plague me since the birth of my daughter, a fellow Please Mum consultant's two-year-old daughter's birthday party (where my husband's 3 ½ year old nephew accompanied us), and constant problems with our "creatively held together" 1981 Toyota Corolla. For those of you who are regular readers, you already know that we are planning a move to
Cranbrook, BC, Canada (approximately 1,000 miles away from Burnaby, BC, where we are living right now), within the next month. It has proven to be a Herculean task, what with renting a truck, making sure the apartment is cleaned, and making sure that we have enough in the bank to cover all of our costs. My husband now has several job leads in Cranbrook, but since we will not be relocating until the middle of June because of other commitments in the area, this has been a source of frustration for both of us.
Thankfully, my home-based children's clothing business is in between seasons, and there is somewhat of a lull at the moment. However, I have been working on my Fall/Winter 1998 online catalog, as well as corresponding with quite a few women who are looking to become consultants as well - answering many questions and just getting to know one another. This has led to many more e-mail messages every day, and has made me re-prioritize my schedule again.
My daughter has also been very busy. Now nine months old, she is walking assisted and taking momentary steps on her own. That's a feat normally welcomed by most doting parents, but met with a few reservations from this mom - I was hoping for a few more months before the chase began! Her progress has also been unhappily welcomed by her 3 ½-year-old cousin, who has been spending a fair amount of time at our house the past couple of weeks. He is not very partial to her using him as her brace while he is motoring around the house. (Outside is no problem, since we are both still really enjoying the backpack.) Danielle, however, is absolutely fascinated with him, and no matter how many times he pushes her away, she still looks at him adoringly, and follows him around wherever she can find a wall to support herself. Needless to say, I have received a chance or two this week to work off some extra pounds.
