Paul Muldoon covered words among other things. "W.B. Yeats had a wonderful phrase. He said a man - and had he lived in this era, he would have said a man or a woman - dabbles in verses and they become his life. You just become absorbed in how words work, making them work for you. If you're very lucky, these words will occasionally make some music. And that takes over your life."

Pinsky and Piercy talk about fooling with words, also. These poets all offer rich imagery in these conversations as well as in their selected poems. These discussions also point to the richness of the Dodge Festival experience.

If you want to dance to poetry, the next Geraldine R. Dodge festival is scheduled for September 21 - 24, 2000. To date, confirmed scheduled poets include Sherman Alexie, Edward Hirsch, and Sekou Sundiata.
