Wrist braces may also be used to keep the joint still and give support. This allows the inflammation to subside. Anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen or aspirin, may be prescribed. If the problem does not resolve, cortisone injections may be used to further reduce the inflammation and finally surgery to enlarge the opening may be necessary. However, if you have thryoid disease and CTS, ask your doctor to test your thyroid levels and verify that they are in normal limits. Give yourself time to stabilize your levels before considering invasive treatment. Once your thyroid is controlled the symptoms will probably disappear.
