HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD IN 1999: Davenport 3-0 Hingis My prediction Martina Hingis has a great record at the Australian Open, having won 20 singles matches on the trot since her title run in 1997. It's got to come to an end sometime, and it may come to an end against Lindsay Davenport. Lindsay is Martina's greatest and most consistent rival on the tour, and the only rival for her #1 ranking it seems. In each of the matches that they played last year, Lindsay has beaten Martina very soundly in straight sets all three times. Lindsay has just a touch too much in the firepower stakes, and what makes Lindsay so dangerous against Martina is that she is so consistent, even with her firepower. Martina will put up a great fight but I think that it will be LINDSAY DAVENPORT in TWO SETS.
