MOVEMENT
Martina:
4 ½
Martina isn't tall and powerful, but she is incredibly fleet-footed. Her counterpunching defending game requires her to be able to run down a lot of penetrating drives from all angles of the court and to be able to create plays from those difficult, powerful shots. Not only is she very agile at the baseline, but Martina moves very well at the net as well.
Lindsay: 2
Lindsay is not the best mover on the tour, in fact, she is pretty slow at times. Her height doesn't allow her to be able to move as quickly as she would like, but she has worked on her foot speed and has improved considerably since her days outside the Top 5. It can get better, although there is only so much Lindsay can do given her height. Nevertheless, her power will always compensate for what lack of foot speed she has.

NET PLAY
Martina:
5
She won the doubles Grand Slam last year, she has won the Australian Open three times with three different partners, she has reached the #1 ranking in doubles - does this tell you that Martina is incredibly competent at the net?! Martina knows what ball to cover at the net and she is a great mover at the net, always looking to move forward in her matches. Martina can serve and volley just as well as she rallies from the baseline. She has a lot of finesse and plays with deft touch at the net
Lindsay: 3 ½
Lindsay is also a very competent net player, but she still lacks confidence somewhat in her approaches to the net. Lindsay will not approach the net as much as Martina will, but she will often follow up her booming groundstrokes into the net. Her achievements in doubles speak for themselves - former world #1 in doubles, multi Grand Slam doubles winner and finalist, over 20 career WTA doubles titles. Lindsay has definitely improved her net game over the years, and given her reach at the net, can only get better.

VERSATILITY
Martina: 5
Martina is the most versatile player in the whole world, no question about it! She can defend, attack, rally, approach the net, drive volleys on the full, play the one-handed backhand, play the slice, play left-handed, hit groundstrokes on the backfoot, and finesse the ball from shots which seemed impossible to finesse. No question, she is very versatile!
