Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, winner again on the European clay

the major trophies after going through that season without a title and a ranking drop of #9. But she proved herself and the critics wrong when she stormed through seven intense matches to win at Roland Garros for a third time in her career. While she may be getting older and half a step slower than in her prime, on the clay courts, Arantxa still moves very well and she is able to run down many more balls than she otherwise would not on a faster surface.
