For more than six thousand years, people have been using natural plant oils to heal and cleanse themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually. The Egyptians not only used them in the mummification process but in medicines, perfumes, and cosmetics. During the fifteenth century, the use of natural plant oils in healing spread to Europe and other parts of the world, and shortly before World War II, the French chemist, Dr. Rene'-Maurice Gattefosse' coined the term "aromatherapy" and became known as the father of modern aromatherapy.

As with many alternative forms of medicine, aromatherapy has become increasingly popular around the world in the past few years. It is used to heal everything from toothache pain to migraines to providing relaxation. And, with the widespread availability of the internet, information about aromatherapy can be found on a variety of different web sites. Suzie's Stress Solving Site ( http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/2248... ) and Global Psychics ( http://www.globalpsychics.com/lp/TheStor... ) are two such sites providing the history and uses of essential oils in aromatherapy.

Many of the essential oils used in aromatherapy are known for their sexuality-enhancing properties. Some of them are considered male aphrodisiacs while the others in this group are classified as female aphrodisiacs. The list for men wanting to enhance their sexuality includes cinnamon, sandalwood, lavender, patchouli, coriander, jasmine, and cardamon. For women, try ylang ylang, rose, clary sage, neroli, or rosewood. Perhaps, for a romantic interlude, massage one another using a combination of jasmine, rose, ylang ylang, and sandalwood mixed with some sort of massage oil. Together, these oils are said to render euphoric, warm sensations while combining both male and female aphrodisiacs.

Aromatherapy can be used in a wide variety of ways. To enhance your sexuality, massages with sensual oils such as the ones listed above or cinnamon, orange, and iris work well. Other ways to incorporate the benefits of natural plant oils into your sexual life consist of placing three or four drops of your favorite oil from the lists above onto a handkerchief and inhale whenever you need to.

Place several drops into a warm bath, sauna, or jacuzzi or burn scented candles (be careful not to burn the candles with metal in the wicks). A few drops on your pillow at night or in a pomander to be placed in your sensual clothing drawer work well. Or try this for a romantic evening, after showering together, dip a wet sponge into a sexuality-enhancing oil mix and rub it over each other's bodies before....well, you get the picture.
