start with that, choose a simple but recurrent thought that causes you distress.  The key here is to start simple, start with one thought and only one, until you can master it, stopping it at will.  When the thought comes to mind you can

  • Keep a rubber band around your wrist and snap it each time the thought comes to your mind and say to your self stop
  • At this time begin to ask yourself if there is any validity to the thought, is it true? What is actually true?  What is the correct thought you can replace it with?
  • Say to yourself or out loud if you can, "I am thinking that _____ because _____, it is untrue because____________, the truth is ______________!

Once you have mastered one of the your most troublesome thoughts, you can begin to work on other recurrent thoughts.  You can also use this technique for thoughts that may come up as a result of a single even, such as loosing something, something that all of us do from time to time.

Until next week
Stay happy healthy and free
