are going into a depressive episode, and can get help before it gets out of control.
Write down a schedule, include personal hygiene, exercise, meals, and sleep. Make
it into a checklist and use it when you are in a depressive episode. You may have to
force yourself to do these things, but you will most likely get a sense of accomplishment
after doing them. Accomplishment can go a long way in improving self-esteem during a
depressive episode.
After checking with your mental health professional, you might want to join a trauma
self-help group, or even one online. Having other women to share your feelings and
concerns with can be a big help in recovery.
If you prepare ahead of time, know your own warning signs, and take your medications as
prescribed, you will find it easier and easier to lessen the affects of depression in your
