Vail native Barrett Christy had a near-perfect run to win the superpipe event of the 2001 Chevy Truck U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix on Sunday, January 7 in Breckenridge, Colorado.

The 29-year old Christy nailed a frontside 540, back-to-back 360s and a 720 to in her second run to win the competition. She was psyched to stick the 720 because it made her sit during her first run. Christy edged out fellow U.S. Team rider Tricia Byrnes with a score of 36.70 to Brynes' 36.40. American Kelly Clark took third with 35.20, Gretchen Bleiler of the U.S. had a score of 32.60 to take fourth and Austrian Caroline Ehrenstrasser rounded out the top five with a score of 31.90.

Christy takes home $10,000 and adds another win to her impressive list of accomplishments over her seven years as a pro. Brynes is still in the hunt for the Grand Prix title with her superpipe win at Okemo Mountain. The Grand Prix competition continues on February 8-11 in Mammouth, California and overall winners take home a Chevy truck.
