Cooper Takes Over the Mercury

Former Houston Comets all-star Cynthia Cooper will be taking over the head coaching position at the Phoenix Mercury. The position was left vacant by women's basketball legend Cheryl Miller on December 1. Miller was the second-winningest coach in WNBA history.

Cooper's absence from the WNBA after her retirement the past season is not long. She will take over a talented Mercury team and brings a wealth of basketball knowledge to the position. Cooper agreed to a three-year deal with the Mercury and the details of which are being worked out.

Cooper led the Houston Comets to four WNBA championships and was named the WNBA Finals MVP for all four years.
