The Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) announced this week the league will hold a combine and a draft in early December. From December 4 - 11, the WUSA will evaluate 200 players over five days and the draft will commence on December 10. This combine and draft immediate follows the NCAA Women's College Cup which is being held December 1 - 3 in San Jose, California.

Acting Commissioner Tony DiCicco and Vice President of Player Relations selected the final pool of 200 players after an extensive nationwide search. The first two days of the combine draft will be for player registration and physicals, and the following five days will be used for competition and evaluation. League personnel, general managers and coaches from the eight teams will be evaluating the pool of talent for the 12 to 15 round draft.

In addition, a draft for pairs of foreign players is scheduled for November 11 and the signing of eight more foreign players can be expected within the next few weeks. After this foreign draft, the rosters will be at five each. Following the combine draft in December, the rosters should be at 20 or so. Later, a possible optional college player draft and the signing of discovery players could take place which would bring the training camp rosters to 26.

Finally, talks continue with the USISL and the WPSL to allow for inter-league relationships, such as players moving up and down. A financial agreement is possible as well.
