Are Lesbians a Women's Issue?

I was doing my regular search around the web for more sites to list here and I kept on finding sites specifically for lesbians and bi-sexual women. My own curiousity was peeked by reading alot of the articles on these sites and I found many of them to be extremely informative. Then the debate began, are lesbian issues also women's issues?

One may easily say yes, simply because of the fact that lesbians are women. However, then one could easily argue that not all women are lesbians. In fact, many women believe that lesbians are wrong for being the way that they are. It is these women who would most likely be upset to see lesbian issues part of women's issues.

However, it's my belief that as women, the problems which lesbians have to deal with are important to us. One way to look at it is how women and African Americans came together in the 60's with the civil rights moevment. Women still have a way to go in getting equal treatment, and it's very clear that lesbians also have a way to go.

For some, this may be hard to do. For the women who think that lesbians are wrong in what they do, it's hard to support them. In fact, they are probably helpig push lesbians back down. Instead of being pushed apart, we need to pull ourselves together. Women should help other women, regardless of sexual practice. None of us should let each other stay on the bottom.
