I'm thankful to be a woman!

Yes, I am!

So why am I thankful to be a woman? Why am I thankful that I belong to the gender group that has been the target of hateful prejudices for thousands of years? I'm glad you asked why. Let me tell you

I'm thankful because I've been able to get over the prejudices that people place on me because of my gender. It has given me a strength that men don't know. They don't know what it is liked to be turned down for a job just because of your gender, even though you have all the qualifications. They don't know what it is like to be assigned tasks based on your gender. Women know what it is like. Women have been able to overcome great odds to get over these prejudices and be better people because of them.

I'm thankful because I can bring life into this world. As painful as childbirth may be, it is an amazing experience that only women can have. Men may say that they are happy that they don't have to experience it, but most are probably jealous in some way. It is an incredible thing to have a person growing inside of your body for nine months. Then you get to watch that baby grow up into an adult and know that you are responsible for their exsistance. Without all those hours of labor, that person might not be walking around. A man can't experience that kind of pride or connection with a child. That's unfortunate for them. But it's just another reason to be thankful that you are a woman.

I'm thankful because I am part of a rich history of women who have contributed to our world in incredible ways. Women like Clara Hale, Martha Washington, Edith Wilson, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Ann Frank, Susan B. Anthony, and Lucretia Mott all have played their roles in the pages of history. These are just some of the women who will never be forgotten. I'm proud to have such a great heritage to my gender. This heritage is one that is growing every day as more and more women get the chance to follow their dreams and make the world better.
