Elizabeth's reign was full of triumphs and greatness for England. Battles were fought and won with France, and Spain, although the war with Spain would outlive Elizabeth. New lands were found and reported. Treasure and new foods poured into England, she prospered, and the people adored their Queen.

On 24th March 1603, her 70th year, Elizabeth died. She never married, and she never named her successor.

In this brief account of Elizabeth's life it is impossible to cover all of the aspects of her reign which made her a great ruler. However, I hope to give greater insight into some of these episodes in future articles. One thing that I wonder is how history would have been altered had Elizabeth been allowed to marry Dudley, and perhaps establish a line of succession?
