"Tomorrow, you shall leave us. Tomorrow I shall begin to write to you- every day I shall write to you" "And I you, mamma." Tears brimmed Catalina's eyes, and her mother shook her. "No tears, remember that too you promised me! There has been tears enough these past months - your marriage gives reason to rejoice." Catalina blinked, nodding, and said to herself a brief prayer: "Dear God, let my mother always be proud of me." But in her heart of hearts, she wished some way could be found to postpone this departure. Surely God knows my mother needs me - especially since the deaths of my sister and brother. Even though her mother hid it well, Catalina knew their deaths had cut her mother to the quick. And with Juan's death so closely following Isabella's, Catalina saw her mother's grief as almost palpable. To be continued..
