Here are still more of the most popular and useful herbs of all time. Although many are useful for a wide variety of ailments, each one is known for it's particular value in the treatment of a specific malady.
MYRRH: (For gingivitis, thrush and yeast infections.) Myrrh was one of the gifts given to the Christ Child by one of the Wise Men. In it's history it has been used as incense, as glue, and was an ingredient used for embalming in ancient Egypt. Dentists today have recommended it for healing gingivitis. For this, use the powder from one capsule on a wet toothbrush and brush morning and night. A solution of equal parts of goldenseal root and myrrh mixed in 6 oz. of water and used as a gargle is an effective treatment for thrush. This mixture is also an excellent immune booster for AIDS patients. NETTLE: (For iron deficiency.) In Scotland and Scandinavian countries Nettle is used in a variety of cooking. Nettle contains iron which is important in the body for production of hemoglobin and oxygenation of the red blood cells. Many doctors recommend that iron not be taken in multisupplement form, but only by itself. Taking three capsules of nettle and three capsules of beet root a day will increase your energy reserves. PAU D'ARCO: (To eliminate poisons.) This remarkable Brazilian herb from the Tabebuia species, has been investigated for anti-tumor effects. It has been proven effective in several tests and seems to exhibit a power to stimulate our own immune system. This herb could prove to be of great benefit against cancer in the near future. PEPPERMINT: (For nausea.) Peppermint is used so many ways today, having been in use throughout Europe, North America and Asia for thousands of years. As we all know it is used in many forms for relief of indigestion, heartburn and flatulence. PSYLLIUM: (As a laxative.) Due to its bulk and softness effects on the intestines, Psyllium is used in commercial laxatives. This serves to encourage the bowel's normal peristalsis which pushes food through the system. People who take four to six capsules daily or one tablespoon of powder in 12 oz. of water, have found Psyllium an aid to weight loss. RED CLOVER: (A boost for the immune system.) Red Clover has proven effective as a fighter against cancer, AIDS and many sexually transmitted diseases. Red Clover tea taken on an empty stomach up to eight times a day is recommended. It can also be taken in capsule form and is often combined with goldenseal root and pau d'arco for added resistance to infection and disease.
