To Granddaughter on Becoming A Woman

I just wanted to send you a letter filled full of love and admiration at this very special time in your life. I know that as you grow into a woman, special events happen to you that boys don't have happen to them. I also know that sometimes it all seems very overwhelming and that once in a while you might wish you didn't have to grow up or maybe that you hadn't been born a girl.

However, dear granddaughter, being a woman is a very special privilege given to us by God. As these monthly cycles come around, try to remember that this is a sign from God that YOU are a woman and YOU are being given the gift of the ability to give life!

YOU can become a mother! You can carry a living baby in your body and give it life! Men can't do this! It is a very precious gift from God to us, as women. God gave life in the beginning of time, and He is sharing this great gift with us - the women!

Of all the things that happen to people on the earth, giving life is the greatest and best experience. Take it from me, a Grandmother who learned this wonderful fact too late! I didn't realize the great gift I was given when I had your Mom. I loved her very much and wanted her but I didn't really understand that having children was the greatest thing I could do with my life! If I had, I would have been a better mother. I would have put my faith more in God and done all I could to stay at home with her and her brother until they were grown up and on their own. Children need their mother to be at home and give them the nurturing and care and love they require. I wish I'd been better at that, but I wasn't. I can only tell you about my experiences and hope you'll learn from the things I didn't realize and from my mistakes.

Having children is of course, only the first great step - the next one is being able to give them love, helping them to grow up and teaching them about the importance of human life and the wonderful love of God and His Son, Jesus Christ!

The gift of a child is a responsibility and a commitment! God gives us the chance to love, nurture and raise these little humans and our first responsibility is to show them His love.
