DIARRHEA: Make a very strong tea of ½ cup of blackberry leaves in 1 ½ cups of water. Steep 10 minutes and strain. Add 1 tablespoon or less of carob powder and drink it 3 times daily to promote homeostasis.

FACIAL: For all skin types. Mix equal parts of rose petals, comfrey leaves, peppermint, and lemon balm leaves, about a handful each. Chamomile flowers can be added to soothe rough and chapped skin. Simmer in a pint of water, covered, for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and bend over the pot with a towel covering your head and shoulders. Steam your face for 5 minutes and rinse with cold water. The solution can then be strained and added to bath water.

HEADACHES: Make a tea with rosemary leaves. Apply it as a compress.

INSECT REPELLENT: Make a strong tea of pennyroyal leaves or dilute pennyroyal oil in a pint of water. Spray the infusion around the area. This is harmless to animals and plants. Make a strong tea of citrus rinds, especially lemon and orange rids. Spray directly on areas inhabited by ants as a repellent. Use a half-cup of chopped rinds for each cup of water. Simmer 29 minutes. Cool and strain.

LINIMENT: For aches, pains, stiffness, sore muscles, or swollen glands, combine 2 tablespoons marjoram or oregano leaves, 1 tablespoon thyme, and 1 pint safflower or sesame oil. Simmer the herbs in the oil 5-7 minutes. Strain and apply locally to the affected area for 15-30 minutes. A ginger compress can also be used.

SINUS CONGESTION: Drink or apply a compress of an infusion of sage leaves. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over 1 tablespoon fresh sage leaves. Cover and steep 20 minutes. Strain and add 8 tablespoons or less of honey and refrigerate. Take 1-3 tablespoons daily. A ginger compress will also disperse congestion. Do not drink sage tea if nursing; a strong infusion can dry up mammary secretions.

I hope these old but useful natural remedies are helpful to you. I feel it's important to try the natural way to healing and easing pain before we run to the doctor and ask for chemical compounds which often cause more problems for us. Herbs have been here from the beginning of time and provide a safe and natural way to wellness.
