The nurse deftly stuck the needle into my IV tube and all too soon the now familiar sensation swept over me. It didn't have as much effect this time though. My blood pressure was up and I was fighting it as hard as I could.
"Yeah, she walked right through that wall!" Keith screamed. They both clamored at their mom and dad and finally got Lori's attention. "What is it Keith...Leah?" Lori asked them. "That nurse walked right through that wall!" Keith said seriously, his eyes wide. "Yes...she did Mom, I saw her too!" Leah was determinedly sober. No joke this time. "But that's impossible," Sharon said. "Well," Eric could sense the seriousness of Leah and Keith. "Maybe it wouldn't hurt to check it out." Eric and Amber walked over to the doorway, which looked like a wall to them, and stared into the room. At least it seemed so to me. I was trying desperately to raise my head and to call out to them. "It's just a wall," said Eric. "There's no door here!" At last I found my voice and I yelled, "Look for a door where there is no door. Take a step in faith." "That's Grammy!" Leah yelled. "She's in there!" Everyone was crowding around the doorway. "It's just a wall!" Dad said. "No!" exclaimed Leah. "I want my Grammy!" With that exclamation, Leah stuck her hand through the invisible doorway and then leaped through it with great joy. As she disappeared right in front of their eyes, everyone else had no choice but to believe. With typical adult skepticism, they ventured through, one by one. Leah was next to me in two leaps and we hugged and kissed as I groggily told her how glad I was that she found me. Everyone else seemed glad to see me, as well. After initial greetings, and long overdue reunions, everyone settled down long enough for me to ask, "How come all of you are here? How did you know where to look? And why?" "It was Sonny, Mom. He contacted everyone and told us he thought you were being secretly held and needed our help to find you. If it hadn't been for him, I don't know what would have happened to you...and to us." "Right," Eric chimed in, "Sonny got us all to come. It's really a shame that the only time everyone gets together is for funerals or for a crisis. I don't even know my aunts and uncles." He had tears in his eyes.
