The Eyes Tell the Tale

The eyes have been said to be the window of the soul, but since the early 1800s, they seem to be even more. At that time, a young eleven-year-old boy named Ignatz von Peczely of Edgervar near Budapest, Hungary, had an unexpected run-in with an owl in his garden. The frightened owl instinctively tried to defend itself when surprised by the equally frightened boy, and during the ensuing struggle, the owl's leg was accidentally broken. As the boy and owl glared into each other's eyes, Ignatz saw a black stripe appear in the owl's eye. The boy nursed the owl back to health and carefully observed that as the leg progressed in its healing, the black line was slowly replaced by a small black spot and tiny, white, crooked lines.

Von Peczely wondered if there was a connection between inner bodily conditions and the eyes. His work eventually led to a technique call Iridology. Dr. Bernard Jensen pioneered the science of Iridology in the United States and it has progressed tremendously in the ensuing years. This technique is valuable as a diagnostic aid, but not a method of treatment. Iridology is the science of analyzing the iris of the eye. Dr. Jensen was responsible for creating a detailed chart of the eyes, showing the locations of the various organ's reflexes in the fibers of the iris. It is still one of the most accurate charts available today.

It has been proven that many conditions in the body are reflected in the iris, sometimes even before the condition or illness creates obvious symptoms. Inherited pre-dispositions towards disease and various tendencies are also revealed.

It may be said that the eyes are also a window into the condition of the body and it's organs.

Eyology is a wide term which includes many other eye sciences in use today. Among them are: Iridology, study of the iris; Schlerology, study of the white part of the eye; and Rayid, study of markings and colorings of the iris as indicators of personality and character.

Though most of natural medicine concerns treatment, healing and health maintenance, the eye sciences offer a way to monitor the body's overall condition. This allows earlier detection, testing and treatment for diseases and overall better health.

I know many people who use this method of monitoring their health and they do experience early detection and subsequently, this serves to provide earlier, less serious methods of treatment. It allows a certain degree of better health maintenance.
