Alternative medicine is a blanket term used to cover a large number of alternative treatments and methods of medical care. You might consider traditional medicine and nontraditional medicine as being two separate cities. Each city is crisscrossed with streets of all sizes. Some are large boulevards and some are medium sized avenues which branch out into smaller streets and alleys.
Reflexology is an ancient and safe method of healing which has been gaining in popularity in today's world. As you go down this alternate street of healing you will experience better health with no side effects, and you can treat yourself! I have used pressure points and reflexology in the post and had experienced relief from various painful conditions, but with the surgeries and varied side effects of recent years, I had nearly forgotten the benefits I have experienced with this revitalizing form of treatment. I have used it on my children when they were young, finding that by rubbing a certain spot on the top of their heads would result in a cessation of coughing. Many stomach aches were relieved by massaging the stomach reflex in the middle of the sole of the right foot. My children would often come to me saying, "Rub the spot Mommy, my belly hurts." When I decided to use the topic of Foot Reflexology for this article, I got my book from the shelf, dusted it off and scanned through it, recalling the many times this method has brought relief to my children and myself. Before I began to write, I decided to try rubbing some spots related to headache, fatigue and back pain. I'd had a headache most of the day and after massaging the center of the pods of my big toes, then rotating each one clockwise and then back again several times, my headache seemed to float away! "Oh, yes," I thought, "why didn't I remember this a long time ago!" I is indeed strange how we may know of possible solutions to problems at one time in life, and somehow as the years pass, we seem to forget some of these proven ways of helping ourselves. Anyway, I've rediscovered Foot Reflexology and will be using it again in the future! It does work and what pleases me is the safe, side-effect free form of self treatment. Also, there's no risk involved! If it doesn't help after several days, we can always try something else, or go to a traditional practitioner. Go To Page: 1 2
