Seasonal Allergies

REALITY: Unfortunately, no. A move to the Southwest may relieve allergies for a few months. However, new allergies to local plants in the area may develop in a short time.

MYTH: Allergies are annoying but harmless.
REALITY: If left untreated, allergies can disrupt sleep, learning, and work time, and result in chronic respiratory problems such as asthma or sinusitis, or dermatological disorders such as eczema. And food allergies, drug allergies, or insect sting allergies can even lead to a life-threatening reaction.

MYTH: Smoking tobacco does not trigger allergies or asthma.
REALITY: Smoking is a known trigger of allergies and asthma. Other triggers include pollens, molds, animal dander, termites, cockroaches, latex, stinging insects, and certain foods.

Good luck with your allergies!
