Women who get thirty minutes of vigorous exercise every day, even just a brisk walk, can reduce their chances of having a stroke by as much as thirty percent. The benefits are the same even if the exercise was more intense exercise such as jogging or aerobics.
The reason for this study is that the major public health problem in the nation is a sedentary lifestyle. And since walking is the most popular and common form of exercise in middle-aged and older women, this public health problem can or may be averted. The benefits from exercise are seen rather quickly, so a woman who doesn't start exercising until later in life still has a chance to cut her risk of stroke. The earlier you develop good habits, the better chance you have. It's never too late to receive the health benefits, even if you start at the age of sixty, seventy, or eighty. Go To Page: 1
