I hate to sound like an aging fashion nag, but it is still a litte perplexing to see fifteen-year-old girls taking fashion tips from Britney Spears. Good fashion sense should be taught at an early age, and how can a teenage girl learn good taste when she is wearing hot pink leather pants and a cropped T-shirt with the words "BAD GIRL" written across the chest? I know, however, that this too shall pass. People thought the end of the world was approaching when Madonna influenced women to wear those laced gloves and junk jewelery. Now she is glamming it up in Gucci and Dolce & Gabana designer clothes better than most super models. And as fashion history has shown, every few decades women go through little outbursts of rebellion by baring it all and then we politely tuck it away again.

This seems to ring true since advertisements for sweaters, coats and boots are already in every magazine. Of course winter is around the corner—which is what my next brilliant article is all about—so the wrapping up may have more to do with the weather than fashionistas coming to their senses. Hopeful as I am, I've noticed that fashion trends have been challenging the system to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if nudity will soon be allowed in commercials and then we'll have people walking around town exposing themselves. An act that I think would seriously depress flashers. We never thought nudity would be allowed on TV and that boundary is slowly deteriorating with every episode of NYPD Blue and MTV videos. So what do I know? My guess is that in a few seasons we’ll either be wearing stylish clothing again or we’ll be walking around naked. And if that happens I got dibs in front of Brad Pitt’s house.
