I can hardly believe it is already spring again. Of course, where I live it feels like it went from cool winter to scorching summer in about two days flat. Since the temperatures are rising once again, it is time to crank on the AC and crack open our closets to discard the black sweaters and wool pants and start re-evaluating what spring clothes need to go in there. I have tentatively been shopping at my local mall and thrift shops and I've noticed several styles that seem to be very popular this season. And the best part so far is that most of the trends can cater to anyone's body type. Here is a list of just a few things I have found.
Shirts and Blouses Camisoles are a perfect way to keep the essentials covered but still keep cool in the summer heat. If you are embarrassed by your arms (and you shouldn't be) and prefer tees with sleeves most designers are using a cotton fiber that allows the skin to breathe and therefore cuts down on the sweating. Halter-tops are also very popular for this summer, possibly to expose the back to sun without the tan lines. Great places to shop for these kind of tops are J.Crew, Gap and Express for the latest style of these blouses. Other stores like Macy's Nordstrom's and Bloomingdale's will have more adult, conservative versions in stock. Floral prints I knew people liked flowers, but they weren't kidding. I've seen everything from small pink flowers sprinkled against white blouses to a florescent green halter top with exotic blue and green flower prints splashed all over it. I tend to associate floral prints with the Hawaiian shirts you see on tourists at Disneyland, but designers have learned that both subtlety and boldness can have an eye-pleasing affect. Instead of the crazy patterns seen on those tourist shirts, the patterns are soft with the smattering of flowers across the material. Or the blouse is just one gigantic flower design, giving you the appearance of being wrapped in a flower-which is not a bad place to be! Go To Page: 1 2
