We live in a country of the quick fix. Why aren't there more shows about sending people back to college? Or someone taking a language class or enjoying an art class? These changes are internal as opposed to visual where a mass audience can enjoy a woman's new dress or nose. Whereas her satisfaction of gaining knew knowledge is not a tangible accomplishment that an audience can understand. Change is good, and improving your appearance is all well and fine, but what happens when the make-up fades and your new hairstyle grows out? Do you somehow return to your old status? Was nothing learned from the physical self-improvement?

I personally feel that there should be some kind of psychologically reinforcement that goes along with the physical changes that a person goes through. A person might love their new hairstyle, but does that help solve their inner conflicts with low self-esteem? Not likely. If one is to improve the need must be both internal and external for it to really have any affect on a person. What good is it to put so much pressure on an individual to improve themselves physically when they are aching for the real change inside?
