WNBA.com's "Player Perspectives" Part II

Over the past year WNBA.com has nearly doubled it's number of "Player Perspectives," columns written by the WNBA players themselves. The Player Perspectives started out with Rebecca Lobo's "World According to Me" and the column was such a hit that they added more. Here is a little about each column and what I think of them, on a five star scale.

Catching Up With Korie

This is another column about a player playing overseas. This one might be continued throughout the season though, as it is not just about her experiences in Turkey. WNBA.com has opened up a mailbox for Korie. Fans can write in with questions for Korie, and then check back to see if she answers it. She hasn't answered any yet, so I really don't know much about how good this column will be. The idea is good though, so for now I give this column a four.

At the Movies with Jen

Jennifer Gillom plays movie critic in this column. She is good at it too, every movie I have seen that she has rated, I agree with her opinions. The only thing I don't like is that most of the movies she rates are rated "R". Because I don't go to rated "R" movies, her column isn't a lot of use to me. I would think that the majority of her readers are younger, and more likely than not allowed to go to those movies, I wish she would review more movies that appeal to the general audience. The column is great though, she gives a very realistic view of every movie, and then tells you what is good and bad about it without giving away the movie. I give this column three stars.

Points from Penny

Penny Toler has been writing this column since January, 1999 and it is one of my favorites. Fans can write in and ask Penny anything, from basketball, to school, to everyday life problems. Penny then chooses questions to answer, and posts them on her column. She gives great advice, I especially like the way she reminds girls that they will not instantly be a great basketball player, they have to work hard. I enjoy reading her column because much of the advice she gives applies to more than just the person she is giving it to. Watch out Abby, Penny is moving in. I give this column four and a half stars.
